Samadhi Dance Company Amsterdam

Samadhi Dance Company is a young cross-over dance company under the artistic and managing director of Vraja Sundari Keilman based in Amsterdam. The company consists of two divisions. One specializes in creating and executing professional dance performances and the other focuses on the teaching and dissemination of the training of the company by means regular classes, guest lectures and internships.

The artistic concept and content of SDC's work is inspired by knowledge and / or art forms from the Vedic philosophy. The work aims to radiate positive energy and emphasizing positive emotions in both the team and mutual collaborations and in the artistic product; The concept is at the service of the collective emotion (the collective "rasa" in Sanskrit). For example, the experience of the spectator and receiver first and is the intellectual interpretation secondary in order to appeal to a wider audience.

For creating and performing dance SDC focuses on the organization of joint ventures, which arise multidisciplinary dance performances and various dance products. SDC aims for a final which meet all participating art forms and each separately carry a high artistic level. After a few years of experience, SDC will experience this as a special and authentic addition. This is evident from the pinnacle of SDC's dance performance "Saranágati 'with Dance Audience Award 2011. The collaborating artists inspire not only each other but also challenge each other, making the product at the service of the arts and work in the service of philosophical vision of the company, with the result that the level is rising each year.

The dance language is made up of a rich idiom movement through the use of pronounced dancers of different techniques and styles. Thus, the movement language is characterized as a cross-over dance technique. In addition, the movement language and approach of the movement is characterized by the use of principles from different motion techniques, which aim to raise awareness and the relationship of the mind and body. Examples of techniques which these principles find their origin in the Countertechnique Anouk van Dijk, Alexander Technique, Hatha Yoga, Navarasa Yoga (Yoga of the nine emotions of the Natya Shastra) and improvisation methods developed and applied by William Forsythe.

Spreading the training of SDC is accomplished by giving regular lessons and periodic workshops at the Ballet School Marut Jorquera, a dance school in Baarn for amateur and semi-professional dance students, where SDC is also co-director. Partly due to the high quality and diverse range of school this early 2013 received the Culture Prize of Baarn. But also with giving regular classes at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts, a professional training for all round dancers located in Amsterdam and Groningen, where artistic director Vraja Sundari Keilman now gives seven year fixed teaches and choreographs both the training in Amsterdam as HBO in Amsterdam and Groningen and since 2010 guest teacher and choreographer for various training, including Codarts and Albeda Dance College in Rotterdam. From December 2013 she will also give open classes to the new Chassé Dance Studio in Amsterdam West.
